I gave 4 stars as the Phenolic Sticks have both good and not so good qualities. The good: like all Budo Brothers products the Phenolic Sticks are high quality and after using them for 2 weeks I believe they will hold up to heavy sinawali training for a long time. The not so good: they are a little heavier than I expected. I do like heavy sticks, but these are just a little to heavy. They drilled out part of the sticks center to help with the weight issue, but for me it was not enough. Please know this is just my opinion. I have been doing FMA for almost 30 years. I have developed a bit of escrimador shoulder; the extra weight is a bit of a problem.

Got these for my father as a Christmas present. Before wrapping them up I took one out of the sleeve to see it up close. These are really nice, the weights just right. Very smooth feel to them. The grips feel great. An amazing pair overall. My pops seemed to like them alot too when he opened the gift and took them out of the sleeve. My father being filipino was impressed by the build. He seemed genuinely happy when he held the kali sticks in his hand. Thanks!

Perfect for my needs - martial artist for 36 years in different arts, and these are great for training, lightweight, strong and long; however, I really got them to deal with some dangerous dogs around the corner who keep threatening to attack me on my own front lawn, and to protect my wife and daughter from these dogs - I am confident they can do the trick, but I hope to never have to use them. I’m a dog lover!

Sticks are phenomenal. Was really excited to get them. Quality is super nice. I’m wrapping some grip tape on mine just cause I think with sweaty hands it could get too slippery. That’s with just about any handheld weapon though. All around really like the sticks and recommend them.

Bought these sticks to have a nice pair, for "showing off". DID NOT DISAPOINT!! not as heavy as they might seem, easily maneuverable, STURDY! These are well presented in a very nice case. (And I got a nice bandanna too). These are more for moderate to advanced trained, in my opinion.
So if you're looking for a good pair of sticks, stop here!
Also, I gotta say, the operations are tight here. I ordered a little after 3:30, around 4:15, (same day,) I get the email saying, "sticks have been shipped" delivery was close in time. I have only praise for this company.

The stix feel like satin. I wish there were diameter size options. I like them. The length is perfect. The carry bag is elegant and sophisticated. Overall quality would be “S” tier, as in this product exudes a Royal feel. The swing is light and solid. The impact is comfortable, might be more comfortable than a rattan stick. The “Lambo” of escrima. A nice addition to my synthetic collection.

This sticks are something else! Very solid with low vibration when doing heavy stroking. They are also quite a bit heavier than my traditional sticks. If I had any complaint, they are a bit thin which wouldn’t be an issue if they weren’t as slick in my hands. Having said that, I’m using them for conditioning not direct sparing so I’m enjoying them a lot

Love these Kali sticks. Had an old pair of rattan sticks and these obliterated them. Have a cold steel Kali stick, these feel more comfortable in the hand (not quite as thick in diameter) but definitely as durable. New favorites. The gi material carry bag is awesome. Loved these so much bought a pair as a retirement present for a training partner.

Honestly, I didn’t expect them to be cooler in person. The kali sticks are a bit of a challenge with the weight, but it feels great nonetheless holding them. Thinking about picking up the foam sticks to better protect my hands though lol!

The kali sticks are a great addition to my growing collection of phenolic weapons from Budo Bros! While I prefer the serrada sticks for increased speed the kali sticks give you increased range even though the weight difference is noticeable. First time using the sticks and they felt amazing! Took them to sparring at my local HEMA club to see how they faired against lighter wood sticks. The difference in weight was not an issue at all and I was very pleased with how they performed. The material is extremely durable and the grips helped a ton to lessen the shock of impacts. This is a great product, not only for kali fans but also for those who (like me) train with a tombo for karate. While they are a bit thinner and longer, they work great and feel really good in the hand. The included carry bag is also high quality and a perfect fit for both sticks. A couple of points to note - first these are definitely heavier than standard rattan sticks. So care should be taken when using them in the air and not striking as they may cause some wrist strain. The second note that that the inlay is awesome at absorbing shock, however it is also very smooth and may slip a bit when wet (i.e. sweaty ;) ). As I say though - this is a great product and I have no hesitation recommending them.

If you banging with these bad boys through the air or against an object you feel their power and the passion they are built from. Even if they are thin their weight and stability crashes everything standing in your way. The special grip allows you to throw them in your aim without fearing to loose them. A very nice training tool to increase your hitting power, to adapt your biomechanics to such powerful hits and to create authentic proprioceptive musculoskeletal reactions of stick movements. Enjoy them because they are really worth it.

These are everything that I would want in a pair of kali sticks. They're constructed well with very durable material, the grips are comfortable, and they look great! The custom bag to carry them is sharp looking and the textured material combined with that sweet Budo Brothers patter is put together with the same care and thought as the sticks. I've already recommended them to several friends. I'd say these will probably be the last pair I'd buy... but...the likelihood of me buy another pair of these ones either for myself or as a gift, is pretty high and worth every penny.

These Phenolic Kali sticks are awesome! When I train, we bang hard and so far these ticks not only flow smoothly, but I splintered my friends rattan stick. The grip is good, they feel good while striking and free-styling sinawali and practice on my Bob dummy. Deceptively light and sturdy.

Alright, Folks! I'm going to tell you, these Phenolic Fabric Resin Kali Sticks Truly are Bad@§§!! No Exaggeration! The weight, the balance, the durability are all top shelf! They're not too light, nor too heavy! I love the silicone handle sleeves! They give you a great grip! The case they come in is specially made for the Phenolic sticks as well. It's made of the same canvas and fabrics that the HoodGi is constructed of! I'm going to tell you right now, however. If you're going to drill and train with them, make sure your partner has some as well, or at least has something also as strong, otherwise you're just going to break his traditional rattan sticks!! ~Haha!! I now have both these Kali Phenolic Resin Sticks and the Serrada Phenolic Resin Sticks! And I intend to get multiple sets of these Kali Sticks as time goes by!
